Welcome to northumbrian light, the home page of Pamela & Robin Down. The site includes examples from a growing collection of digital images which attempt to capture the essence of the Northumbrian landscape, England's last wilderness...."in wildness is the preservation of the World" (Thoreau).

The site started with the vague purpose of capturing Northumberland in pictures. It has since expanded to include a variety of disparate interests from canals to motor racing to 'bird cams' and golf - have a hunt around. Other sites I have constructed for fun include scottiethebook.com, Allendale Golf Club (see the button on the left) and now the narrowboat Winthorpe Owners Syndicate site. The change to the home page picture each month and the construction of calendars forces me to go looking for pictures. The February picture was taken in Todi cathedral 'some' years ago and adopts a technique completely at odds with www,windbacktime.com by ageing a perfectly good original. The stunningly beautiful subject, I am proud to say, is my wife.
